Stifel Hires 33-Year Brokerage Vet from Jefferies in Dallas

St. Louis-based Stifel Financial has extended its aggressive recruiting in the Southwest into the new year with the hire of a 33-year brokerage veteran from Jefferies Financial Group in Texas.
Durham, who joined Jefferies in 2010 from Merrill Lynch, declined to comment on the move or the size of his practice. He spent the first 17 years of his career at Credit Suisse and its Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette predecessor before moving to Merrill in 2004, according to BrokerCheck.
“Clark has a long track record as a multimillion-dollar producer, and he will be a true leader in the office given his years of working seamlessly with high-net-worth clients nationwide,” JR Koeijmans, manager of Stifel’s Dallas office, said in a prepared statement.
A spokesman for Stifel also declined to comment on the asset or production figures. The firm had 2,271 brokers as of September 30, an increase of 4% from 12 months earlier.
Koeijmans, who himself joined Stifel from Merrill in April 2019, oversees around 20 brokers in the Dallas branch, including seven who joined in the past 12 months. The other six include a $590 million-asset team of three that moved from Merrill in June, a $128 million duo who left Merrill in November, and a $90 million broker who joined from Merrill in May.
(Merrill broke its three-year veteran broker recruiting freeze on Wednesday with the hiring of a JPMorgan Chase team in Dallas with $2 million in production.)
Jefferies, a middle-market investment bank, has a small retail brokerage unit with around 50 advisors. The business is run by Robert Peyreigne, a former complex manager at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management in New York City, who joined Jefferies in 2016.
A Jefferies spokesman in New York declined to comment.
