RBC Hires UBS Team in Virginia with $900-Million Book
RBC Wealth Management is continuing its aggressive recruiting and on Monday hired a UBS Wealth Management USA team with $900 million in client assets in Roanoke, Virginia, according to an announcement.
Allison Link, Edward’s daughter, who has been a broker at RBC since 2020, is also joining her father’s practice, according to the release.
“With the additional resources that RBC brings to the table, we see an incredible opportunity to expand our footprint in and around our core markets of Roanoke, Charlottesville, Bristol and Abingdon,” Blum said in the release.
RBC’s McLean, Virginia, branch manager Matt Wunder will oversee the office on an interim basis, according to a company spokeswoman.
The elder Link, who has worked at eight firms over his 33-year career and joined UBS in 2012 from Morgan Stanley, according to BrokerCheck, could not be reached for comment on the move. “Forbes” ranked Link this year at #24 on the list of Best-In-State wealth advisors.
A spokeswoman for RBC declined to comment on the team’s annual revenue. A UBS spokesman declined to comment.
Link started in the industry at Robert Thomas Securities and also worked at Davenport & Co. of Virginia, Dominion Investment Banking, First Union Brokerage Services, Crestar Securities, and Wachovia Securities before joining Morgan Stanley predecessor Smith Barney in 2000, according to BrokerCheck.
Kemp started at UBS in 1993, shifted to Morgan Stanley in 2001 and returned to UBS with Link on the same day, according to registration records.
Blum started his career at Smith Barney in 2005, moved to Wells in 2009 and shifted to UBS in 2015, according to BrokerCheck.
RBC last week hired a Merrill Lynch team with $2 billion in client assets in the Chicago suburb of Lake Forest.
